For Erika Wagner, Senior Director of Human Resources, people are the center of attention. Early in her career, Erika recognized the value of building strong relationships and cultivating confidence and trust through honesty, patience, and accountability. These deep connections led her to pursue a career in human resource management.

Erika began her journey with AVID as a Senior HR Generalist before being promoted to Director, Human Resources, and now serves in the Senior Director role. She leads a high-performing team of professionals and is responsible for talent acquisition, total rewards, employee development, employee relations, and performance management. Erika develops and leads initiatives to improve human resources programs with a common thread of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practices. Erika also serves as a member and advisor to AVID’s senior leadership team.

Erika’s experience includes 12 years in human resources at Yuma Union High School District #70, an AVID school district in Yuma, Arizona. While there, she supported classified personnel and served as the chairperson of the classified staff compensation committee. Erika also served as HR Business Partner at Midland Credit Management, a specialty finance company in San Diego, CA, before joining AVID in 2015.

Erika has held a professional membership with San Diego Human Resource Forum and is an active member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), a leading national membership association for human resources professionals.
