Dr. Brooke Watkins currently serves as the Associate Vice President of National Program Implementation Quality. She brings over 20 years of experience in education, having held leadership roles focused on instructional excellence, curriculum development, and student success. Brooke’s AVID journey began as a new teacher when she attended her first AVID Summer Institute in San Diego back in 2005. The experience transformed her as an educator and inspired her as an educational leader. In her current role, Brooke remains passionate about guiding AVID strategies, programs, and services to ensure that all students are prepared for college, career, and life.
Before joining AVID full-time, Brooke served as Director of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Talent Development in the fastest-growing school district in the state of Indiana. In this role, she led district initiatives tied to strategic planning in curriculum alignment, instructional coaching, and student-centered learning. She also spearheaded professional learning communities, managed state and federal grants, and partnered with higher education institutions to expand student opportunities. Prior to that, she held various roles at Indiana’s largest high school—with over 5,000 students—including Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, AVID Elective teacher, Department Chair, and Assistant Principal.
Coming from a family of educators and growing up in a small, rural Idaho community, Brooke understood early on the profound impact that teachers have on students’ futures. Her passion for education led her to Indiana, where she built a career dedicated to supporting students and educators alike—a commitment she continues today through her support of AVID’s mission.
Brooke holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Oakland City University, a Principal Licensure from Indiana University, a Master’s in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Iowa State University, and a Bachelor’s in the same field from the University of Idaho.
