Dr. Cassie Freeman joined AVID Center as Vice President, Research & Data in 2024. With an extensive background in program evaluation and data-driven decision-making, she has dedicated her career to developing and implementing research strategies that enhance program effectiveness and is humbled to bring her deep experience leading analytics, research, and product teams to AVID Center. Most recently, at Duolingo, she codified the scientific evidence behind their teaching methods, led the development of a new Math app, and spearheaded AI-enabled research initiatives.
Prior to Duolingo, Cassie managed college access initiatives and related research at College Board. Her work included leading the efficacy research on Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy, developing tools for personalized college list creation, and managing a portfolio of virtual tutoring initiatives. Cassie earned her PhD in Comparative Human Development from the University of Chicago.
